Cooked rice – 4 cup
Tomato – 5
Onion – 1
Green chilli – 2
Ginger – 1 (small piece)
Turmeric – ¼ tsp
Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
Coriander powder – ½ tsp
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Urad dal – ½ tsp
Mustard – ½ tsp
Red chilli – 2
Asafoetida (Hing) – 2 pinch
Curry and coriander leaves – few
Sesame oil/ any other oil – 2 tsp
Salt – as per taste
1. Cook rice. Cooked grains should be well separated and not sticky.
2. Chop onion, tomato, ginger, green chilli, curry and coriander leaves.
3. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard, then chana dal, urad dal, hing and broken red chilli.
4. Add chopped curry leaves, coriander leaves, then add onion, ginger and chopped green chilli.
5. Fry till onion is transparent.
6. Add chopped tomatoes and fry for 2 minutes.
7. Add all dry powders given and salt; cook until tomatoes are soft and mashed with spatula.
8. Add cooked rice, mix well gently. Garnish with tomatoes and coriander leaves.
9. Serve with Raita and Papad.
