Maida (refined flour) - 250 gm
Sugar - 200 gm
Baking Soda - 1/2 tsp
Saunf (aniseed) - 1 tsp
Dalda/Cooking Oil - 200 gm
1. Make one-string sugar syrup with water. Keep aside.
2. Add saunf, soda and 50 gm dalda to maida.
3. Mix thoroughly. Knead to a slightly hard dough with water.
4. Break the dough into medium size round loyias.
5. Press the loyias a little, and make deep indent in the centre with thumb.
6. Deep fry first on low heat and then on high heat, and soak in sugar syrup for 2 minutes.
7. Take out, allow the syrup on balushahi to dry up, and serve.
