Ingredients

Maida - 4 cups
Baking Powder - 1 tsp
Sodium bicarbonate - 3/4 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Sugar - 2 tsp
Milk - 1 cup
Curd - 1 cup
Refined Oil - 1 tbsp
Mangaraila (Kalonji) - 2 tsp (optional)
Chopped coriander leaves - As required (optional)
Dried and crushed pudina(mint) - As required (optional)

Method of Preparation

1. Mix baking powder, sodium bicarbonate and salt in maida, and sieve the mixture.
2. Mix sugar, milk and curd in a separate bowl and add to maida.
3. Knead lightly, so as to just gather the maida mixture. Add more milk if required and
    make a very soft dough.
4. Add oil to the surface and knead lightly.
5. Keep the dough, covered with moist muslin cloth, for at least 2 hrs(can be kept longer
    for better results).
6. Knead the dough once again till smooth and make 12 equal portions. Take each
    portion and roll in hand to make round balls.
7. Apply dry maida and roll these balls into 6" dia rotis. Sprinkle a little of Mangraila,
    chopped coriander leaves or dried pudina, while rolling the rotis. This is optional.You
    may like to keep the naans plain.
8. Preheat tandoor for 5-7 mins.
9. Pick up each roti in hand and pull from one side to give a triangular shape, which is
    the usual shape of naans.
10. Apply a little water on the plain side of naans. Put inside the preheated tandoor
     and bake till light brown on both sides.
11. Serve hot (plain or topped with butter) with your favourite veg or non-veg dish.
