Ranchi Hill
Ranchi is blessed with natural beauty and is dominated by Ranchi Hill or Ranchi Pahadi from which a panoramic view of Ranchi city can be seen. Ranchi Pahadi is about 300 ft high and atop the hill is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which is popularly called Pahadi Mandir. The unique feature of this temple is that the flag hoisting ceremony is held on every Independence Day and Republic Day. The Ranchi Pahadi was earlier also known as Phansi Tongri meaning "hill of phansi" as Britishers used to hang freedom fighters at the top of the hill to execute death sentence. The hill is about 7 Km from Ranchi railway station. At the bottom of the hill is Ranchi Lake which was excavated by Col Onsely in 1842. Tourists can enjoy boating also in the lake.

Rock Garden

Situated on Kanke road, Rock Garden is favourite place to enjoy natural beauty. It is located on the Gonda Hill just opposite CMPDIL main office about 4 Km from Ranchi GPO. Situated inside the Rock garden, there is a Haunted House or Bhoot Bangla which is very popular amongst children. There is big lake of Kanke Dam located at the foot of Gonda Hill. It is a favourate tourist spot in Ranchi.


Nakshatra Van
Nakshatra Van is another important tourist spot in Ranchi. It is situated just opposite Raj Bhavan. It not only provides scientific information about Nakshatras, but also has a beautiful garden. It is believed that each Nakshatra has a unique Devta who is established on the earth as a tree and therefore each of the 27 Nakshatras is related to a different tree. For example, in the picture shown above, Rudraksh tree represents Uttar Phalguni Nakshatra. In addition, there is one section in the garden devoted exclusively to medicinal plants.

Aqua World
Aqua World or Mchhali Ghar is also situated opposite Raj Bhavan by the side of Nakshatra Van. Besides different types of fish on display, it has a beautiful park. It is very popular among children who not only get scientific information about the aqua world but also enjoy playing in the park.
