Barh Court Summons Chief Minister Nitish Kumar

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Barh has issued summon directing the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to appear in the court on September 9 in a case pertaining to murder in November 1991 during repolling in Barh Lok Sabha Constituency. Nitish was made one of the accused but eventually won the election. Lalu Yadav was the then Chief Minister of Bihar. The police investigation report later found the accusation untrue.

In January this year a protest-cum-complaint was filed in ACJM’s court in Barh against the police investigation report and one person, claiming to be an eye-witness, has said that he had seen Nitish Kumar along with others opening fire in which one person was killed.

If we go by the above news reported in media, two things are obvious:

1. It took some 18 years for a person to surface and claim that he had seen Nitish opening fire alongwith others.
2. If the eye-witness is saying the truth, the police investigation report is fake.

Well, the matter is in the court of law and the truth will come out only through the process of judicial scrutiny. But so far as my personal view is concerned, I am not inclined to believe that Nitish Kumar is a person of the type who can resort to firing to win elections.
