Patna,
situated on the southern bank of river Ganga, is the
capital city of the state of Bihar, India since 1911. It is about 15 km long and 5 km to 7 km wide. It is
surrounded by three important rivers - Ganga, Sone
and Punpun. It is believed that it was first
created by a mythological king Putraka for

Patna, earlier called Patliputra, was already in existence 2500 years ago when Buddha and Mahavira were active here. It later became the capital of the Mauryan emperors in the 3rd century B.C. and one of the largest cities of the world.
