Muzaffarpur is the
headquarter of district of Muzaffarpur under Tirhut
commisionary of Bihar. The present district of Muzaffarpur
came into existence in 1875 and is named after Muzaffar
Khan, an Amil (Revenue Officer) under British rule.
The
history of Muzaffarpur can be traced back to mythological
king Janak was ruled Videha, the mythological name of this entire region including eastern Nepal and northern Bihar.
